SWITCHING MADE SIMPLE

Your MSP switch checklist

A smooth handover comes down to seven things. Make sure your next provider has covered every one of them.

  • Audit Your Existing Commitments First
Review your current IT provider's contract notice period, termination clauses, and offboarding fees before notifying them of a change to ensure a clean transition.
  • Establish a Transparent Transition Plan
Ensure you receive a clear migration schedule complete with mapped milestones, defined roll-back strategies, and named engineers holding direct operational accountability.
  • Insist on clear, predictable pricing
A good provider separates the work into Design, Build and Run. Project work (Design and Build) is scoped clearly by deliverable, while your ongoing management (Run) is a predictable fixed price for a defined scope, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
  • Verify Complete Documentation Access
Confirm your incoming provider will immediately inventory and secure administrative access to all critical infrastructure, networks, cloud environments, and licensing credentials.
  • Establish Your Security Baseline on Day One
Ensure a baseline security posture is deployed immediately upon handover. Implement low-impact protections first, then scale up to high-impact controls with rigorous testing to completely avoid operational friction.
  • Map Out the First 100 Days
Agree on a structured post-migration roadmap. Establish exact alignment on what the first 100 days of stabilised operations look like so no optimisation tasks or support tickets are dropped during the handover.
  • Audit Your Critical Application Dependencies
Map out every business application your team relies on every day. Ensure your incoming MSP explicitly understands which tools would hurt the business most if they went down.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to switch MSPs?

Most switches complete within the final 30 days of your existing agreement. If you need to move faster, we can cut over overnight. A planned handover always delivers the smoothest result with the least disruption to your team.

We do the heavy lifting. We manage the handover with your outgoing provider and take over your licences, so you're not stuck in the middle.

What if we're locked into a contract with our current MSP?

A current contract is rarely a barrier. We can begin discovery and planning early, while your existing agreement is still running, and help you navigate the exit, notice periods, and timing.

How is pricing structured?

We follow a Design, Build and Run methodology, fixed-price for an agreed scope, so there are no surprises on the invoice. Onboarding is included at no extra cost on a three-year Run agreement, with month-to-month available.

Can we mix onshore and offshore support?

Our support is fully onshore, a Sydney-based team who knows your business. If you need round-the-clock coverage, we offer an optional 24x7 follow-the-sun service with trusted partners.

What happens if our account manager leaves?

Your business never depends on one person's memory. You have a primary account manager plus a wider team who all know your account, with everything documented from onboarding onwards.

What if we already have internal IT staff?

We make your existing team stronger, not redundant. Co-managed IT is about deciding who does what, agreed up front with a clear responsibility matrix (RACI).

Can you help us adopt AI & automation safely?

Absolutely. We start with practical use cases that save hours and lift output, introduced with the right guardrails and aligned to your security baselines.
